Welcome to Goa Adventures
The purpose of this website www.goaadventures.com is to bring to the forefront the different Goan outdoor activities that are promoted in the midst of Goa’s beautiful nature. Participating and promoting natural activities in the hinterlands of Goa is definitely giving a boost to hinterland tourism in Goa.
Besides the 72 plus beaches on a continuous stretch of 105 plus kilometer coastline stretch, Goa also has other natural water bodies that needs equal attention from the nature loving tourists. Goa has many waterfalls most popular being the Dudhsagar. Goa has natural lakes surrounded by hills, famous is the Mayem Lake in Bicholim having boating facilities for tourists.
Goa has nine rivers to cruise on & to enjoy the backwaters of Goa. One need not travel to Kerala anymore to experience a romantic house boat stay. Goa has numerous ponds & water spots frequented by resident and migrant birds. For bird lovers of Goa there is Chorao Island dedicated as Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. Goa has outdoor water sports activities like canoeing, rafting in neighboring state close by , banana rides at Calangute & other beaches of Goa, jet skiing & water scooters at Dona Paula, kite skiing & surfing at Arambol beach. Goa has beach games like beach volleyball, swimming, soft ball, Frisbee activity, sand castle building etc.
Goa has 9 major rivers and other tributaries for river recreation like fishing, backwater cruising, Angling, Crocodile sighting, etc. For the adventurous Goa has a lot to offer in the form of rock climbing, hiking, trekking, hang gliding, para gliding, bungee jumping etc. In the name of Passive tourism, there are trips to Spice plantations, Wildlife sanctuaries, National parks etc. The nature of Goa has such a lot to give to us. As locals and tourists we can balance our outdoor activities and make sure that they are not detrimental to nature. There is nothing wrong in commercializing adventure based activities, outdoor sports, hiking and trekking events. What is wrong is the wanton destruction and disrespect towards nature during and after our enjoyment of nature based recreational activities.
Already it has become a common sight for individuals outside their homes to carry “bottled water” for drinking. The time is not far when it will be an uncommon sight to carry “bottled oxygen” too, just stepping outside our houses. As humans we all generally believe in recreation and procreation. We will give birth to children, introduce them to this world, save millions for their education, insure for their health, buy expensive assets for them, but how much of the natural earths resources are we leaving behind for them in Goa and elsewhere. Individually we humans may be intelligent, but collectively why are we lacking in protecting nature and the planet which is our real home.
